16/04/11 Taslim Martin (Sculpture Portrait)

Ok, so last month I was heading off to a studio session if Notting Hill...but as always; my car was running low on petrol. I had to stop off at Morrison's Petrol station in Peckham....blah blah blah.

Anyway, as I've gone into pay...this guy approaches me and asks if I would be interested in being a model for a portrait. I thought 'This is so random, is this guy mad?'

He then goes on to tell me what he did (figurative sculpture to furniture designed) I must say, I was interested........but wasn’t convinced!!!! I needed to see more.

He then gave me his card and told me to check out his work for more information. He was real adamant that he would love to get me down to his studio to construct a sculptured portrait on my face....I told him that I would definitely check out his site....and that was that!

So after I finished my studio session, I did a bit of googling on him and I was completely blown away.

So I decided to go for it, it also said that he loved my music too :)) *Thumbs up!
I and Chaz went down to his studio to take some pictures for him to start working on a piece. I should be going back in a couple of weeks for 2 hour sessions to work on the featured details.

Here are some pictures that were taken on the day.

Soon come!

Expect it, but you dont have to except it

As an up and coming artist, people tend to think we should ACCEPT the struggle we go through trying to make it.
EXPECT it, but don't ACCEPT it.
We are WORTH more!!

The New Kids on the block

Miss MPC / DIY

I was on the search for a MPC1000 stand, seeing as I want to incorporate playing it in my sets more. I needed find something solid for it to rest on.

Quite a few people recommended the Quik Lok QL-400 stand...I looked at the price and thought....WOAH!!!  £97 for a stand?? It looks nice and has got wheels, but na ah!

I wouldn't feel good parting with that money. So I was doing a little research and came across a stand that someone had built.

I mean it has no wheels but it could work, its just a matter of finding something for it to go on.....Uh *thinking

I see what you don't see.....

All I can say is, this night was EMOTIONAL. I was proud to be a part of it. I'm very proud of how far AKS has come, to be able to sell out his first EP launch was amazing and should never be forgotten.

The SWEETEST words/music to hit my ears.......

KING-HEY

I played this song about 80 times last night....it had me lost, the lyrics when right through me.......you know the feeling when you are on a plane/train and your ears get blocked....and then after 20mins or so; your ears pop...it was kinda like that.

My ears POPPED and everything became clear........

Late night studio session last night!
We were in the studio till early hours of the morning mixing material for my album.
We didn’t get as much as we wanted done which kind of bugged me, but everything is for a reason.

The journey home was a madness, 2hr 30mins.
I crashed out as soon as I got in.

You know you've got the greatest friends when the only time they make you cry is when you're laughing too hard.
